Traditional Estonian black bread baking workshop at Kallaste Farm.

Learn about the ancient practice of bread-making and join us to bake authentic Estonian black bread!

In the workshop, the farm's hostess will introduce all stages of bread-making, including caring for the starter, preparing the dough, and traditional baking. After about half an hour of guided instruction, the bread will be left to rise and bake, while you can enjoy the sauna, nature, or a walk on the Padise nature and culture trail, which runs near the farm. Just a short walk away lies the historical Padise Monastery.

When the bread comes out of the oven, the air is filled with a delicious aroma – the perfect moment to enjoy farm-made butter and freshly baked bread with herbal tea. You can taste meat, seed, and raisin bread, and if desired, you can order a refreshing soup and other farm kitchen delicacies.

At the end of the workshop, those interested can take home a piece of the farm's starter to continue bread-making at home. The workshop can be organized for up to 25 people and combined with other exciting farm activities.

“The girl took bread from the oven – warm bread, imagine!” (J. Liiv)
