Tallinn Insight private walking tour “Soviet Tallinn & the Cold War: Behind the Iron Curtain”
Our private, personalized walking tour through the stories of Soviet Tallinn and the Cold War is primarily for curious foreign guests who appreciate true stories and open and courageous conversation and want to peek behind the Iron Curtain, which cut Estonia off from the free world.
A walk through Tallinn's Old Town and city center covers the most significant buildings, places, and events from the occupation period through (military) history, architecture, (geo)politics, and culture during our half-century-long occupation by the Soviet Union.
This tour discusses our complex and challenging history, but also shares stories of the absurd and comical details of day-to-day life, which help balance the gloom of the occupation period to provide an overall inclusive and engaging tour experience.
We don't bother you with clichés – our honest, nuanced narrative allows visitors to understand Estonia more deeply and keeps the flame of freedom glowing in our eyes, too.
