Saaremaa Aerufest: Abruka Sea Marathon

The Abruka Sea Marathon is the largest sea kayaking festival in the Nordic and Baltic countries and one of the most special summer events in Saaremaa, combining sports, nature, and experiences into a unique festival. It is a sea kayak marathon of up to 40 km, where participants paddle around beautiful islands such as Abruka and Vahase.

Participants can choose to complete the entire program over three days or take part in activities that suit them – from free training sessions and sprints to sea marathons of varying lengths and peaceful recovery trips. As a spectator, you can enjoy the spectacular cannon start near Kuressaare Castle, watch the colorful line of kayaks at sea, and cheer at the finish in Roomassaare.

In addition to the competition, the event offers music, food, family-friendly activities, and the opportunity to try kayaking yourself. It's the perfect summer experience for the whole family – an ideal reason to spend a day by the sea on the special island of Saaremaa.
