Reigi Parsonage

The Reigi church manor or parsonage was established in the early 17th century after the formation of the independent Reigi church parish. The current main building, the third one on the same site, is Suuremõisa Manor's next most remarkable baroque structure in Hiiumaa.

The historical building has been an important center for spiritual, educational, and cultural life for centuries. Within its walls, many people who have left a mark on Hiiumaa's cultural history have lived and worked.

Today, the Reigi Parsonage is open as an exhibition hall during the summer. Every summer, a major art exhibition in the "Genius Loci – spirits of the place" series takes place here, bringing together the site's history and contemporary art.

It is a tradition for locals to gather on the steps of the Reigi Parsonage on the Republic of Estonia's anniversary and sing the Estonian anthem. This is done with slightly different words than usual because the local pastor Gustav Felix Rinne wrote a song praising Hiiumaa to the same tune used by the Estonian anthem.
