Pärnu's Elephants
On the streets of Pärnu, you can find joyful, concrete elephant figurines that have made their homes on the road from bridge to beach in Supeluse Street, the beach district, and the city center. Finding these playful figures is like a treasure hunt, leading step by step to the beach in Pärnu.
Elephants have been a symbol of Pärnu for centuries. In the 18th century, there was a building called the Elephant Barn, and Elephant Street was named after it. In 1936, five elephants from a traveling exhibition from Hamburg brought the public an unforgettable spectacle, and in the 1950s, elephant-shaped slides became the pride of Pärnu's beach. Today, elephant statues carry on the playful and friendly spirit that has accompanied Pärnu for generations.
Come and discover Pärnu's "Elephant Road" – walk from the new bridge through the city center and to the beach of Supeluse Street, visiting cafés along the way. Find all the elephants and get carried away by their joyful energy. Along the way, check out the beach park's grassy green elephants.
Pärnu awaits you with open arms, with smiling elephants!
