Onion Route Fish Buffet Day

Onion Route Fish Buffet Day takes place on the last Saturday of April!

The yards and gardens of the Onion Route open their doors to offer guests authentic local culinary experiences, where fish from Lake Peipsi are the stars of the menu. The event takes place by Estonia's largest lake, Lake Peipsi, known for the cultural heritage of the region's Old Believers, allowing visitors to experience their unique dishes and hospitality.

Buffets from Piibumäe to Vanaussa offer fish shashlik, fish soup, fish steaks, fish sausage, fish salad, and fish pies. The menu is diverse, and each buffet also offers delicious onion pies and cakes.

Throughout the day, guests of all ages can enjoy boat trips on Lake Peipsi, dumpling-eating contests, workshops, face painting, pony rides, and other activities. At the same time, the Varnja fair takes place, where visitors can explore local handicrafts and purchase fresh produce and fish.
