National Opera Christmas concert at St. John's Church in Tallinn
The Estonian National Opera's beloved traditional Christmas concert at St. John's Church in Tallinn will feature Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Coronation Mass" ("Krönungsmesse") in C major KV 317 and popular Christmas carols.
Mozart's "Coronation Mass" is one of the composer's most famous and festive works of sacred music. The mass was completed in 1779 in Salzburg, where Mozart worked as the court chapel master for Archbishop Count Colloredo. The mass received the nickname "Coronation Mass" in the 19th century because it was often performed at ceremonial occasions, including coronations and other grand church events.
The "Coronation Mass" is special for its bright and festive sound, which is why it remains one of the most performed of Mozart's 17 masses.
Come and let yourself be carried away by the sounds of the Christmas season!
