Leigo Lake Music Festival
The Leigo Lake Music Festival, nestled among the forests and lakes of Otepää in South Estonia, is one of Estonia's most beloved and unique musical events and one of the oldest lake music festivals in the Baltics.
Concerts take place directly in nature, where the stage is set in the lake or on its shore, creating a unique visual and acoustic experience. The festival is legendary for its light and fire shows — in the evening, thousands of candles, bonfires, and light installations are lit, making the festival a magical experience. Although the festival is based on classical music, it has hosted top Estonian musicians, as well as folk, contemporary, indie, and other genres, and has been enriched by various performing arts and world-famous orchestras.
Leigo Lake Music is a great example that classical music doesn't have to be listened to only sitting upright in a hall, but can also be enjoyed lying on a blanket outdoors. At Leigo, even those who don't listen to classical music daily enjoy it!
