Kuusalu Laurentius Church
The Kuusalu Laurentius Church is one of North Estonia's oldest stone churches, with roots dating back to the late 13th century. Established by Cistercian monks, the sanctuary stands near a holy spring and remains a simple, majestic, and authentic example of medieval sacred architecture.
It is worth visiting if you wish to quickly step off the road and take a moment of silence, surrounded by medieval heritage and unique church details. You can walk around the church and garden, observe the silhouette of the old sanctuary, and enjoy views from hammocks.
Inside the church, there are design details from several centuries: a pulpit, altar, tower bell, 17th-century chandeliers, communion vessels, candle holders, and rare portraits of Luther and Melanchthon on glass.
