Kurtna Hiking Trail
Kurtna Hiking Trail is located in Alutaguse National Park in the Kurtna Lake District, one of Estonia's most lake-rich natural areas. The Kurtna lake district has about 42 lakes in an area of only ~30 km²!
The approximately 9 km circular Kurtna Hiking Trail introduces you to the region's diverse nature. Along the journey, you will encounter various plant communities, landforms, and lake types, and discover a total of 12 points of interest. While on the trail, you can see up to 10–11 lakes, which is quite rare among Estonian hiking trails. Several campfire and rest areas have been established by the lakes, where you can stop, enjoy the silence, or go for a refreshing swim. The hike begins and ends at the parking lot by Lake Nõmmjärve.
If you wish to spend more time in nature, you can camp at the Martiska and Nõmmjärve campfire sites along the hiking trail, where there are good opportunities for relaxation amidst the tranquil forest and lake landscape.
Come experience the lake-rich nature of Alutaguse National Park, walk along the Kurtna Hiking Trail, and discover one of Estonia's most unique landscapes!
