Kuressaare Great Bridge
Kuressaare Great Bridge in Saaremaa is one of the city's most beautiful landmarks and also one of Estonia's longest stone bridges. Built in 1820, the beautiful, broken dolomite bridge crosses the Põduste River and captivates with its timeless beauty and dignified history. The twelve-arch bridge is 105 meters long and nearly 7 meters wide, offering an impressive view both during the day and in evening light. The bridge, which was hit by bombs in World War II, has been repeatedly renovated over the decades, and airplane bombs have even been found inside during the works.
Today, the Kuressaare Great Bridge has received a new look and beautiful lighting, making it especially enchanting at night. For various events and celebrations, the bridge is illuminated in suitable color tones, creating a delightful light show.
Kuressaare Great Bridge is open only to pedestrians, allowing for peaceful walks and enjoying the view.
