Hirmuste nature trail and camping area

Hirmuste nature trail on the western coast of Hiiumaa is an ideal place to combine a nature hike, a seaside experience, and an evening campfire. The trail begins at the Hirmuste camping area, where the sandy beach and the shadows of the pine forest create a peaceful atmosphere. From here, the path leads into the old natural forest, over forested dunes and through alder woods, offering encounters with a rich variety of plant species and animal habitats.

The trail is meant for exploration on foot and takes 30 to 40 minutes to complete. Information boards along the way explain the forest's life cycle and provide knowledge about the area's nature. In autumn, berries and mushrooms can be picked along the trail.

The Hirmuste camping area, located at the start and end points of the trail, is suitable for both longer stays and enjoyable evening campfires. Here, there are campfire sites, shelters, tables, a dry toilet, and parking facilities for camper vans. Due to the beautiful sandy beach and sunsets, it is one of Hiiumaa's coziest camping spots to start or end your hiking day.
