Guided tour at the Estonian Dairy Museum

The Estonian Dairy Museum is located in Imavere, Järva County, where the era of dairy cooperatives began at the start of the 20th century!

With a guide, you get a comprehensive overview of the museum's history, see rare exhibits, and learn more about them. The guide introduces the history of Estonian dairy farming from the mid-19th century to the Soviet years. On the first floor of the museum, in the milk reception room and machine hall, the daily work of the dairy is demonstrated, from weighing milk to packing butter.

You can also try your hand at making delicious food in our workshops. Roll up your sleeves, put on an apron, and learn to cook together with family or friends, making butter, barley bread, cheese, ice cream, or even curd snacks in the way your ancestors did.

Older — and braver — milk lovers can even try hand milking a cow. There's no need to go to the pasture or barn for this, as there's a friendly cow that never kicks beginner milkers.

Come and travel back in time!
