Guided snowshoe hike in Koitjärve Bog

Our Koitjärve Bog snowshoe hike takes you to one of the most authentic places in Põhja-Kõrvemaa, where there are no boardwalks or observation towers, and the silence of the bog can be experienced while moving through the waterlogged landscape. Located in the Vikipalu area, Koitjärve Bog was a closed military area from 1953 to 1991, which is why nature here has remained wild and untouched.

The hike starts on a forest trail and continues on snowshoes over the bog ridge, offering views of bog lakes, islands, and large pools. With luck, you may see traces of moose, foxes, capercaillies, or even lynx on the trail in winter.

An experienced guide will instruct you on the use of snowshoes and share stories about nature, history, and the area's former military use. The 4-5 km hike lasts about 2–3 hours and is suitable for beginners and children aged 12 and above.

The service includes snowshoes, hiking poles, gaiters if needed, and the guide service. The tour can be concluded with catering by the fire, a sauna, or accommodation near Aegviidu.

Come enjoy the peace and quiet of Koitjärve Bog!
