Guided hike to Saula Blue Springs from Viking Village

A hike to Saula Blue Springs takes you from Viking Village to a sacred natural site just a 10-minute walk away. The Pirita River meanders through a forest-covered valley, and along its banks lie some of Estonia's most beautiful blue springs. Crystal-clear water, ancient spruce forest high on the bank, and river landscape create a place where nature and old folklore intertwine.

For millennia, Saula Blue Springs have been considered sources of healing water. According to tradition, simply touching the water is not enough to gain health – the visitor must know and follow specific customs.

During the hike, you will learn what role natural sacred sites played in the worldview of ancient Estonians and other Northern peoples and how to behave in such places. You will hear folk tales about Saula Springs, the punishment of the spring spirit for those who desecrate nature, and how people sought luck in battle from the water spirits. The journey combines a beautiful river valley, Estonian folklore culture, and a nature-respecting mindset.

After the hike, you can dine at Viking Village Tavern!
