Exhibition "Baltic New Painting" at Viscosa Cultural Factory

"Baltic New Painting" will arrive at the Viscosa Factory Gallery in the summer of 2026 as a fresh, multi-voiced, pulsating encounter with painting. The exhibition brings together 150 artists aged 40 and younger from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, presenting a cross-section of how the new generation uses, shifts, and redefines painting in an era when visual space is fast, digital, and saturated.

The exhibition's subtitle, "OK. SMS. WI-FI," emerged from a simple observation: these words are written exactly the same in Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian – like a small common code that connects the Baltic space even across linguistic borders.

The joint exhibition allows the perception of the dialogue among young artists from three small neighboring countries: intimate stories and broader temporal and cultural landscapes meet in the works. One can also sense the boldness and doubts of youth, freedom, and unrest – and how traditional forms gain new breath for the questions of the new era.
