A visit to Örrekese's home studio with Ellinor Piipuu's ceramics and stories

Discover the cozy Örrekese home studio in Tallinn's Nõmme, where the renowned Estonian ceramicist Ellinor Piipuu lived and worked. In the studio's garden, you can see her ceramics and sculptures and hear stories about the artist's life and work. Piipuu was active during the Soviet era, when getting ahead as a female artist required talent, determination, and courage. For her distinctive creations, she received several accolades both in Estonia and the former Soviet Union.

In the second part of the visit, a 45-minute Örrekese workshop awaits you, where everyone can create a small keepsake to take home. The workshops use environmentally friendly and creative materials, such as broken porcelain pieces, glass shards, leather scraps, or Estonian herbs. These are turned into jewelry, mosaics, or a personal herbal tea blend.

Örrekese's workshops combine creativity, circular thinking, and a small handicraft experience – so you leave the studio not only with new stories but also with a practical item you made yourself.
