Struve Geodetic Arc, Simuna endpoint
In 1827, under the guidance of Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Struve, the baseline of Simuna-Võivere was measured.
The endpoint of the baseline in Simuna is marked by a monument built in 1849.
The measurement of the Simuna-Võivere baseline is part of the measurement of the meridian arc performed in 1816–1855, the aim of which was to find out the size and shape of the Earth.
