Exhibition "Pledge of Freedom: The Art Collection of Mykolas Žilinskas"

Mykolas Žilinskas (1904–1992) was one of the most mysterious figures and the most prominent art collector in the cultural history of 20th-century Lithuania. After World War II, Žilinskas lived as an emigrant in West Berlin, and his extensive art collection includes over 1,600 works. By creating this collection and transferring it to his native country between 1974 and 1988, he wanted to support and strengthen the Lithuanian national spirit. A separate gallery is dedicated to his collection in Kaunas as part of the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art.
