Kau Manor
The site of Kau Manor was first mentioned in the Danish Book of Valuations from 1241, when it was a vassal castle of the Danish king. Over the centuries, the manor has been rebuilt several times, which is why the main building has acquired a distinctively ornate and multi-layered appearance. The current classicist appearance was formed in the 19th century, when the manor was home to the world-famous explorer and navigator Otto von Kotzebue. His travels inspire the interior design of the manor and highlight the exotic, including enlargements of historical engravings and a dignified collection of stuffed animals.
Kau Manor is a unique blend of history and international architecture. Today, it is home to a boutique hotel, a stylish restaurant, and a library, which can be booked in advance. You can experience the atmosphere of the Middle Ages in the wine cellar and cigar room, while the manor is an ideal place for seminars, conferences and special events.
You can also book a guided tour that will take you along the paths of history and architecture, from the rooftop to the mystical basement.
