The national traditions following Mardilaat, that first took place in Tallinn in 1997, became from what was first planned to be sale exhibition of handicraft the big event of national culture and one of the most important undertaking of handicraft union. This is the place where beside selling and buying the national handicraft the craftsmen can socialize and exchange the experiences. Here the old Mart's Day traditions come to life.
On the fair there are functioning workshops where it is possible to get tutorials and consults. For children the handicraft rooms are open.
Mardilaat has developed certain traditions that remain as years go by, but every fair also brings some new initiatives.
