Church of the Holy Cross in Harju-Risti

Built: 14th–17th centuries.
This 700-year-old church with massive walls, dedicated to the Holy Cross of Christ, used to belong to the Padise Monastery. The unique semi-circular tower was created by the collapse of the original round tower in the 17th century. A bulky pillar and a low triumphal arch add archaic charm to this one of the most unique and ancient churches on Estonian mainland .

It is possible to climb up the tower in order to admire the oldest church bell in Estonia (14th c.), as well as the view of the surroundings. You can also walk on the ceiling vaults, or the attic of the church, see the restored nave and sacristy with the fireplace and cellar that are unique in Estonia.
